Zodiac Sign of Aries the Ram

The question of all questions for humanity, the problem which lies behind all others and is more interesting than any of them, is that of the determination of man's place in nature and his relation to the cosmos.

The symbol associated with the zodiac sign of Aries is The Ram. The Ram first appeared in Egypt, alternating with a goose's head as the symbol of Aries.

Its origin is a mystery.

According to mythology Phrixus, son of Nepele, was falsely accused of ravishing Bladic and was condemned to death but was rescued by a golden ram on whose back he escaped with his sister Helle. Helle became giddy and fell off the golden ram but Phrixus reached safety and sacrificed the ram to Zeus, who later placed its likeness in the heavens.

Aries Character

Ruled by the warrior planet Mars and with a masculine (penetrative) nature, Aries is outward-going in its energy. A Cardinal (assertive and creative) sign, Aries governs leadership and initiative.

You, the Arian's, energy is manifested in dynamic bursts by expression of personal identity through Action. Short-term goals are important and tangible results are achieved rapidly. It is a Fire (self-assertive) sign and Arians are bold and self-confident, although you tend to be overly impulsive. Arians welcome challenges and you will not be diverted from your purpose except by your own impatience and egocentricity - which needs to be curbed if conflict and tension is to be avoided and a greater appreciation developed as to the needs of others.

As the first sign of the new zodiacal year, it is the sign of new beginnings, and is adventurous, ambitious, impulsive and full of energy. The Arian is a pioneer in both thought and action, open to new ideas and a lover of freedom. You have an urge to get things started and lead the way and have the free rein to express yourself. You could do this in the form of some leadership role or by forcing others to look at themselves in a different way.

You are very concerned with self, both positively and negatively - self-reliant but also, at times, self-centred and are concerned with your own personal advancement and physical satisfaction!

Aries Mind

You are intellectual and objective but can in instances become bigoted and extremist…especially with regards to religion and politics.

You are a prime champion of lost causes and last-ditch resistance.

Quick witted but sometimes foolhardy and optimistic, lacking thoroughness and the ability to evaluate the difficulties of the path, which you often run into impulsively.

You need a challenge that will stir you into action. An Arian without a direction in which to go, or without a cause to fight, is confounding their own nature.

Aries Emotion

In your personal relationships, you are frank, direct and candid and make an enthusiastic and generous friend.

You are liable to have a high sex drive and make a passionate but fastidious lover.

There is, however, a negative side to your associations with other people.

You can far too easily be irritated by slowness or moderation in your companions and, although you are yourself sensitive, tend to ride roughshod over the sensitivities other others.

The intensity of your sexual urges can drive you to promiscuity and a child-like need to count your conquests of the opposite sex. It is also this child-like quality that comes to the forefront when things go wrong and you can pout with the best of them!

You like extremes, physical, emotional and mental, and will benefit greatly by experiencing them, but, if your extremism goes too far beyond social acceptability, expect to be extremely lonely.

Aries Body & Health

A typical Arian is of medium height and tends towards a slender but sturdy body structure.

The main feature being the Arian face which is clean-cut and forceful, with a high-forehead and cheekbones, strong chin, firm mouth, long nose and pronounced eyebrows. The eyes have a direct and piercing gaze.

Aries governs the head, brain and eyes, and Arians are said to be prone to headaches, particularly migraines, sunstroke, neuralgia and depression, as well as general problems with organs in the head and fevers (although the nose is ruled by Scorpio). Indigestion and nervous disorders are likely. Your rashness, impetuosity and wholesale physical commitment make you liable to accidents and physical injuries…especially to the head.

You are all extremists and for this reason can fall prey to stress-related ailments and mental problems. However, although you can be highly-strung, your great fund of energy enables you to survive where other less exuberant personalities may succumb

Aries rules the head and, therefore, the organs associated with it such as the eyes and brain (except the ears which are ruled by Taurus). Because of this we find many original thinkers associated with Aries as their sun sign or rising sign.

You can sometimes tell the influence of Aries by the distinction of the head or nose. The subject may well have the characteristic curly hair and eyebrows of the archetypal Aries but is more likely to have the body form of their rising sign.

Prone to headaches and nervousness as well as concussions - perhaps due to the Aries tendency to jump into things without fully considering the consequences.

Aries Career & Jobs

A dull plodding safe job is not for you. You need competition, preferably in a noisy, busy atmosphere when you are in charge! You need to be able to use your own initiative. Challenge is important and, given the chance, can pivot you towards a position of power.

Career suggestions include:

doctors, dentists, psychologists, psychiatrists, butchers, explorers (of new ideas as well as physically), arms-manufacturers!, professional athletes and climbers, soldiers, sailors, airmen, trade unionists and leaders in industry and politics.
